I think the 1Ds MkII and even the 5D have already done that to some
extent. Wide angle edge performance hasn't kept up. But keep in mind
that the 30D and 40D have pixel density equal to 26.3 MP on a full frame
sensor and the E-410/510 and P1(?) at 10 MP have an equivalent density
of 38.4 MP. If your OM lenses still perform well on an E-410 Canyon
still has a ways to go before running out of gas altogether... at least
on the longer lenses. And it appears they are re-engineering the wide
angles.
Of course, 8-10 MP is already equaling or exceeding 35mm film for
resolution if the lenses can keep up. 21 MP is definitely in the medium
format threatening range.
