Sure! I've had it since the late 90's, I think, and have sent them
money a couple times for upgrades.
> 2) Why?
It does the job. In most cases, it dose a noticeably better job than
Photoshop's bicubic up-sampling. In a few cases, it is not so clear
which is better. It does a much better job with things that are
naturally fractal-like, such as trees, landscapes, etc. It's more of
a toss-up with stuff with straight lines and angles, such as buildings.
> 3) Could a techno-challenged person find it useable?
You do "Save as..." (or Export, I forget), fill in the desired pixel
dimensions, and press OK. A tiny bit more challenging than sending an
email. There are options for masking, but you don't have to use them.
They used to have a stand-alone version, which could be used with
other image manipulation software, but I believe (correct me if I'm
wrong) that the current version works only as a Photoshop plug-in.
I routinely produce 24"x36" 300ppi images (78 megapixels) from 8
megipixel digicam shots and 20 megapixel scans of 35mm film and sell
them at art festivals and galleries, using GF.
:::: The largest marine predator on the planet right now is the cow.
More than half the fish taken from the sea is rendered into fish meal
and fed to domestic livestock. Puffins are starving in the North sea
to feed sand eels to chickens in Denmark. Sheep and pigs have
replaced the shark and the sea lion as the dominant predators in the
ocean and domestic house cats are eating more fish than all the
world’s seals combined. We are extracting some fifty to sixty fish
from the sea to raise one farm raised salmon. This is ecological
insanity. -- Paul Watson ::::
