Which one? Vivitar made millions of the 4 element "2X-21", which is
fairly poor. Bright sun, longish lens, fast film and stopped well down,
they could produce a decent image. It's best use is as a roughly 26 mm
auto extention tube by removing the glass elements.
There was a 7 element teleconverter that was sold under many names,
including Vivitar. The Key to identifying them is that they almost
always say "2X MC7" or 2X MC-7" and are just over 41 mm in flange to
flange length.
They are pretty good, and much better than the 4 element ones. Not as
good as the Oly 2xA, however.
Another good choice is the "Vivitar 2x Macro Focusing Teleconverter MC".
In addition to being a good 2x teleconverter, it has a helicoid built in
that allows closer focus than with the lens alone. With a typical 50
lens, it doubles the focal length while allowing focusing down to 1:1.
The Zuiko 50/1.4 mounted on it becomes a 100/2.8 1:1 macro lens.
It's not true macro, it has too much field curvature for flat field
work, but for typical outdoor work, where only the center of the subject
is in the plane of focus, it's quite good.
