Hi all,
Hope you don't mind me letting off steam. Early retirement from
teaching finally came around today. Very much a day of mixed emotions,
will miss colleagues (most of them) and the gallows humour..but will
not miss the unnecessary paperwork.
Got home to a disturbing phone call. A good friend who I had taught
with for 12 years and lives locally had also been lucky enough to get
retirement on the same day.
During his retirement barbecue he received a phone call telling him
that his youngest son who I taught, was spending a year in Australia
had been knocked down and killed as he crossed a road.
he now has to arrange passport and flights half way around the world
to identify the body and fly his son back home.
I cannot imagine what his family is going through. I feel really low.
Not an easy time.
Regards
John Duggan,
