Over on dpreview, there are several threads stating various
"softness/poor focus" problems with the E-510, with about an equal
number of E-510 owners expressing surprise that there are problems with
the camera, especially since they've got their own E-1s (or E-400s) to
compare the output to.
It's starting to sound like there are a significant number of lemons in
the first batch of E-510s to roll off the line, and that's not good --
problems like that can really sully the reputation of what could
otherwise be a fine camera.
Perhaps taking it back and exchanging it might solve the problem. I'm
certainly glad to hear that some owners are impressed by the output --
that tells me that, if I buy one and it's a dog, I *might* be able to
improve my chances simply by exchanging it. If *everybody* had
complained, then I'd be suspecting that the E-510 is simply a bad design
overall.
Or mebbe I should just get a 5D for now...
