Hmm, having been a guy all my life, I think I can speak a little about
"guyness." My experience has been that many of us aren't so great about doing
some of the "nice" things that folks appreciate and don't expect. For me, one
of those is sending folks cards. Last night I went to Barnes and Noble and
bought a blank card with a perfect picture on the front and wrote Walt a few
lines expressing gratitude for what he has been for the OM list and wishing
his
speedy recovery. It is funny how when your intention is on finding the
"right" card, it will jump out of the rack into your hands, even if the
selection
seems to be limited. The same goes for the words. My intention was that of
putting a smile on his face and hope in his heart when he reads it. The
words came to me. Wonder what affect it would have on Walt if there was a
stack
of cards from his friends on the OM list when he comes out from under
sedation?
I would like to encourage each of you to take a little time, spend a little
money and send Walt something that will cheer him up. You might even write a
few lines on the back of one of your images if you have one sitting around.
I'll make two promises to all who take me up on my challenge. Your card
will make a difference for Walt's recovery when he reads it. Your taking the
time to write and mail a card to a friend in need of your encouragement will
make a difference today in your life.
