It's amazing that two companies whose business is designing and
selling machined parts can't tell a prospective buyer the dimensions
of their plates. Every time I've called Kirk, they've had to go to the
stock room and measure their plates. The new RRS web site is worse
than it used to be. If they would show the dimensions and have their
plates is a list sorted by size, it would be much easier to find the
best plate.
I called both Kirk and RRS trying to find a plate for the E510. Neither
company had ever heard of an E 510. Both ask if it was a point and shoot. The
guy
with Kirk was very helpful but unsure if any plate they had was an exact fit.
I'm returning my BH1 ball head to Kirk for some repairs and they offered to
measure the 510 and provide a plate that will work at the same time. Like you
said, a tripod screw hole in the plate is a requirement. I'll let the list know
what plate they offer.
