As mentioned, you are able to input focal length at will with an old
manual legacy (or non legacy, or lenscap with pinhole) lenses, in using
an old manual zoom, when you decide on a focal length, just set the SR
to that focal length. You can be approximate if you don't want to keep
changing it, and have an idea of around what focal length you will be using.
As Pentax corrected the issue on the earlier K100D based on customer
input, why wouldn't Olympus simply do the same? Isn't that the Maitani
way? It is a software (firmware) based situation to begin with, after all.
