You can run X-Windows on Darwin. Not exactly capable of running the
Adobe Creative Suite, but Gimp and Ink run on it.
But more important than that, you can actually see how to write low-
level drivers and such. That tends to make for cleaner code than when
you're simply coding to an interface spec. An example's worth a
million API manuals.
