This is how I do things - in case it helps someone. I always download
images to the same temp directory on my computer, and I keep a shortcut to
that folder on all my CF cards. So whenever I download images I just have
to plug the camera in, or plug the card into a reader, open the folder (or
make it open automatically if you like), select the shortcut, invert the
selection and then drag everything onto the shortcut. Could not be easier.
I always use the date name format, and I always move the images between
folders, never format or anything. Has worked flawlessly for the two years
I have had the camera.
There are also ways to do this automatically by programs such as SyncBack.
For what it is worth.
