Hi Johann I normally only use a microfibre cloth, and if it needs a bit more (very rarely) I breath on the lense and use the microfibre gently. Only time I've used more is after dissembling the lense for oil or fungus. The glass cleaning wet 'towel' obviously did the job for you. I'd find a Kodak or Pro shop somewere and buy a small cleaning kit.
