I went to Best Buy to handle a couple of cameras. To my surprise, they
had an H9.
Beautiful 3" screen, tilts both up and down 90 deg. too. Nice handling
camera. Seemed to focus faster at long focal lengths than the SP550, but
of course, they didn't have one of those set up, so I could really compare.
Much better screen and EVF than the S3 IS. I just couldn't use an S3. So
I was getting a little excited, and hoping an H9 review would appear
soon, and maybe clinch the deal. I'd really like to like the SP550, but
slow long end AF just isn't good for me, even with the better than
anyone else 28 mm short end.
I get home, and instead of an H9 review, I get the announcement of the
S3 IS. Oh my paws and whiskers, what's to fill that in between camera
position? Obviously, I can't decide on a super-zoomin the near
future. And I'm still not sure a S-Z isn't too big for casual carry
around....
So I either made a thoughtful decision or my itchy credit card finger
went off, and I bought something else entirely.
