Heh! The monks and masters were too few in number to patrol the
fields and hedgerows. I remember returning from the cider farm (1s/
6d per pint and guaranteed oblivion after 2 pints ...) to an
impromptu party in a cornfield, far from prying eyes :-).
Anyway, discipline was pretty commonsense rather than paranoid.
