Some kit lenses are fine. The Nikon 18-55mm I just used on the D40x
was quite good - sharp enough, light, quick and quiet to focus.
Others - well...
One of the best lenses I used on the 10D was the the cheap 50/1.8 -
made a nice, fast 80mm. Got some nice shots with it. It's worth about
seventy squid. It looks like a toy.
Still, there's just something about that big 70-200/2.8. And it does
impress the geeks.
