If one was serious about wanting to sculpt additional nodules on control
rings or anything else like that the product I would recommend is Milliput.
It comes from a family run company in Wales and is an air curing two part
epoxy putty in the same vein as JB weld. Unlike epoxy adhesives it is much
more easily handled (though still retaining some the adhesive property). In
use after combining the two parts it transitions through a sticky putty
phase into a two hour soft rubbery phase with solid curing overnight. It is
shortly to be officially available in factory black variety and can be found
it model shops or by mail order in the US for $5-6 a pack (3-4 pounds in the
UK). The factory will ship internationally too if you cannot find it
locally.
I just used it (for the first time actually) to fix a design 'flaw' in the
Parker Sonnet pen. Lovely pen with very nice feel and just fancy enough to
be a true fine instrument without breaking the bank. For those who are
curious the pen has a vent hole in the cap due to Euro safety regulations
that can cause the nib to dry out. Pen collectors might have a fit for such
a permanent modification but I say if the pen doesn't work then what use is
it?
