I can confirm that polystyrene is soluble in acetic acid, but I doubt
that polyethene is (which is what plastic drink/condiment bottles tend
to be made of. Can't say if perspex (acrylic, plexiglass, poly
(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA)) is, but I'd be nervous of trying it.
