In this week's Mass Market Retailer trade journal (March 12, 2007),
there is an article (it's labeled "Advertisement") on GE getting
into the digital-camera business. They're P&S only (at least at this
point).
What I thought was interesting, though, was the "interview" with
Hiroshi "Hugh" Komiya. Komiya is the Chairman and CEO of General
Imaging, the company which will be manufacturing the cameras for GE.
Komiya retired as President of Olympus Imaging Corp. in 2005.
In touting the responsiveness of the new company, Komiya says he
advocated at Olympus "'execution at four times speed' -- the
efficiency with which top-quality products were designed and
produced was doubled -- and then doubled again." Komiya promises
that General Imaging will run at "10 times speed".
Either Komiya had nothing to do with Oly digital SLRs or there's
some weird sort of number system at Olympus. :-p
