Thought I should fwd this to the list. There had been some debate about the
newest version of the Sigma 600 f8 mirror lens. Jeff had thought the Zen
colored one was most likely the latest as it was the newest color and still
used. Others thought a smaller version may have been the latest. See below
for
the answer. I may hold out for a
"NATO Green." Sigma was quite considerate to reply to a query.

Oh, I have a brochure (old) with a few images. They could use more contrast
and are a bit soft though have seen others that were very nice s/p a touch
of Moosterization.
Dear Mike
Thank you for your inquiry. The ZEN finish used on the 600mm F8 Mirror
lenses was the latest finish. You don't really give enough information to
accurately identify which models are in question. However, the filter size
can give some indication of relative ages of the models. Lenses with filter
sizes 86mm (front) and 22.5mm Drop-in were made in the 1970s and early
1980s. They had a glossy black finish on the lens barrel. Lenses with
filters sizes 92mm (front) and 30.5mm (drop-in) were made in mid-1980s to
about 2003,and had a variety of colors (NATO Green, Pearl tone and Gun
Metallic grey) for barrel finish, culminating with the latest (ZEN). So,
the ZEN finish model would be the latest model of 600mm Mirror lens. All
production of 600mm lenses was discontinued about 2003. We hope this
information is helpful to you.
Sincerely
SCA-
