I've used Norton for decades and never caught a virus. However, when I
activated the Norton Securtiy that came with three months free on my
notebook, I found it had become even more intrusive that the 2-3 year
older version on the desktop. Too intrusive and uses too many resources now.
I used ZoneAlarm firewall for a long time with excellent results, so now
that my Norton subscription on the desktop has expired, I've installed
the whole ZA security enchilada. Even with a router, I'm not comfortable
without a local software firewall. Getting both firewall and AV/S
integrated from the same vendor with a top PC Mag rating for a
reasonable price seemed worth a try.
