My God you don't still think that Platypii are real do you?
They are animatronic gadgets, designed to lure tourists.
They're made in a factory down the road from here and tested in the
local creek. It's behind Healesville Sanctuary, a zoo for endemic
species which has a 'breeding program' as a cover for it's
manufacturing subsidiary.
Greased wombat fur and dark brown rubber are the main outer
components but the original clockwork has been replaced by some
pretty fancy electronics and micro-solenoids, not to mention the cute
little analogue computer.
I mean, really. The males have poison injecting spurs and the females
lay eggs? They swim blind and find their prey with electrosensors in
that ludicrous bill? How on earth could you have fallen for that?!
Next week, the awful truth about wallabies.
