This type of scam is pretty common, but may be getting more common
given the number of reports I've seen recently.
I used to review pretty much everything that came into my inbox, but
gmail has significantly improved their spam filters so I see a lot
less. Almost every item that claimed to be related to eekbay was a
scam so I now report/delete them without even checking. Hope I don't
miss anything of consequence, but that's what happens when crooks
pollute the environment. Legitimate communication gets drowned out by
the din.
