Over on the 35mm news group a Pent*x user had just acquired a 10D and was
attempting to mount various manual lenses he had in his possession. He could
not get his Vivitar 90-180 to mount, there was some flange interference. He
wanted guidelines on how to hack the back side of this lens.
I have this lens in the OM mount and I'm thinking you've got to be nuts to whack
on this lens. I suggested he put on an extension tube. You lose infinity focus
and a zoom lens becomes a varifocal. He took my suggestion and his Vivitar is
still in one piece. If only it were an OM mount :-)
And for a slight bit of on topic, I have done minor surgery on my lens. One of
the mounting screws is in a position to shear off the reset button on an OM4. I
put a tiny circle of aluminum foil in to protect the Phillips head then filled
in with epoxy. Has worked like a charm although every time I mount the lens I
double check that the fix is still there.
