Who's doing the advising? Buying power is OK if you're going to build on whatever you buy now but what you were proposing to buy was not something to build on. Two Alien Bee 400's will give you 160 watt seconds on each light for a total of 320 watt seconds which is *much* more than enough for a small room. When you're ready to add to a two light arrangement to use either three or four lights and also to add more power you can add B800's and relegate the smaller lights to hairlight and background. Also, any Alien Bee can be upgraded to equal its more powerful brethren for the price difference between the two plus a $25 conversion charge. This should give you an indication of power requirements. It's a wedding party in a dark old wooden barn. It's lit with four Alien Bee B800's running at about 30% power without diffusers plus a pair of T-32's at full power shooting through an umbrella. Total estimated watt seconds... a little under 600 to light the entire 90 foot long dark wooden barn at ISO 400, f/9 @ 1/4 second. <http://www.chucknorcutt.com/smith%20barn/group%20shot%20proof%20-%20img_0382_std.jpg> Chuck Norcutt Allen Coltrin wrote: > It is what I was advised to get as a basis if I choose to build on it. > > Allen ============================================== List usage info: http://www.zuikoholic.com List nannies: olympusadmin@xxxxxxxxxx ============================================== |
