You are probably right, but I have a faint recollection of seeing this
somewhere before. I had thought about cutting the cables, but I would
rather not damage anything. I could make some kind of a plug out of sheet
metal and epoxy I guess, but I really don't have time for that. It would be
far easier if these things were commercially available.
