True enough but I use a $40 Velbon monopod which is cheap junk
compared to some but it has lasted me well, is very light and is the
equivalent of having IS/VR at the very least. It even bends when I
push down! I bought it when I had a light Contax G1 because it had a
matching finish but I've used Canon 5D plus booster plus 70-200/2.8
on it and It's saved my back. I have a heavy Manfrotto/Bogen monopod
but I always seem to take the Velbon.
Something is better than nothing.
Lighter is more likely to be with you.
