Allen,
This one is a nice big piece of glass (as Piers points out this is a heavy
sucker). Its intended for medium format cameras but will work as a stop down
lens on just about any 35mm or DSLR camera as it has a long flange back
distance. At f5.6 is is among the faster lenses at this focal length but
speed always comes with a weight penalty. It will really only be usable on a
tripod and that tripod will need to be a neavy duty one accompanied by a
suitable head.
If you don't already have a serious tripod there is little point in buying a
big lens like this as you will not the best out of the lens without it.
Serious tripods get to be just as expensive as big lenses.
As I sense it you are looking to dabble in longer lenses right now more than
really invest. May I suggest you look for a Tokina 400mm f5.6 ATX. I used to
have one in OM mount but I did use it on my E-1 a few times. It was longer
than I really needed for the E System so let it go last year and now have
the Tamron 300mm f2.8.
