The C-5050 used, what I felt, was a lot of juice, the E-500 uses almost
nothing in comparison. The C-5050 also had to use juice to move the lens in
and out where as the DSLR zoom is done by hand.

It is not a good comparison for the ancient C5050 to the much newer E500.
My E-1 consume 2x the power compared to the E300 with the same battery.
