Hello all
I just paid another visit to the art printer whose services I am considering
using.
It's very interesting seeing images through the eyes of such a person. I just
had a bit more edjumacation, I would say.
His main computer has four processors. He is running Photoshoplet, so to
speak. His flat screen is at least 70 cm from one side to the other, and of
course it is finely tuned as to colour.
The main computer passes each image to another computer which runs a
RIP process on it; I think it is an up-rez process of about 4 x magnification.
This then passes the instructions to the printer. This printer - I'll check
next
time which will probably be next week, seems to be able to print 2 - 3 metres
wide. 2 m at least, from rough memory. Correction to what I previously
reported; it prints at 1400 dpi.
As demonstration of what his #1 computer can do he opened a file of an
image from another client. I don't know what camera this guy was using, but
I have never seen such impressive sharpness in the narrow zone of focus.
Amazing, is one way of putting it. The colours were pretty smart as well.
I have a feeling my shots won't stand up too well.
But a lot depends on the final size of the print.
Brian
