Communities Magazine is seeking a cover photo for our upcoming Spring
2007 issue.
The theme of this issue is "Learn Sustainable Living in Community".
We're seeking images that illustrate that theme.
To help you get the idea, some of the articles in this issue include:
"I Slept and Dreamt that Life Was Joy"
"Is Hosting Work Exchangers Worth It?"
"Natural Building Blues"
"What Interns and Work Exchangers Say... About Us"
The photographer of the selected cover photo will receive $150. If
your photo is not selected for the cover, we may, with your
permission, decide to use your submitted photo (in black and white)
inside, but we cannot compensate you in such a case, except with a
The successful cover photo will be one that jumps out from the
magazine rack. It will almost always have people in it, generally
showing action or interaction with each other.
We are running a bit late this issue, so please send your photos --
or at least a commitment to a nearby later date -- no later than
Tuesday, January 30.
Photos should be hi-resolution images, emailed to photo editor Jan
Steinman: <photos@xxxxxx>, either as a reply to this message, or with
the same "Subject:" line, so it will get through my spam filters.
Please include the following information with the photo:
1) Your full name, as it should appear in the credit. Also include
your mailing address and phone, so we'll know where to send the check
if your photo is selected. :-)
2) A complete sentence or two describing the activity depicted in
the image.
3) Model contact info (if available): full names and contact
information for any recognizable individuals in the image.
4) If you are willing to have your photo published inside the
magazine (B&W) for a photo credit without payment, please state so in
your reply, and we will consider your image for possible future use.
For the cover image, Communities Magazine requires that you grant us
"First North American Publication Rights," which means this photo has
not been previously published, and that you grant us the right to do
so. Copyright remains with the photographer for subsequent use. (We
do not require FNAPR for inside photos.)
Thank you for your help!
