Yeah, there is a lot of anti-Apple noise out there that is just
inaccurate.
iPod Audio formats supported: AAC (16 to 320 Kbps), Protected AAC
(from iTunes Store), MP3 (16 to 320 Kbps), MP3 VBR, Audible (formats
2, 3 and 4), Apple Lossless, AIFF and WAV.
The iTunes app will also convert your CDs to any of them except MP3
VBR. It is only music that the iTunes store sells that locks you into
AAC which is no different that what MS is doing with their store.
