Dan Mitchell posted about stacking lots of extension to get major
macro. A quick and dirty way to do the same is to use a reversed wide
angle lens from an 8mm movie camera. I've picked up a few Elgeet 7mm WA
lenses on eBay (they're D-mount lenses, often around $10) and mount one
reversed on a body cap. Without too much extension, I can get over 30X
magnification, with reasonable resolution. It's great for photographing
butterfly wing scales. Truely "Macro to the max and on the cheap."
