Soaring prices of Zuiko lenses usually has to do with their use for digital.
I tried a Zuiko 180/2.8 on my Kodak SLR/c and was sorely let down by it's
heavy purple fringing around high contrast areas. So much that it wasn't
worthwile for me to consider for my landscape/nature work. Doesn't seem to
be an issue with film though. For digital, I found the Tamron SP 180/2.5 to
be much better. I even had a Soligor 200/2.8 that had similar/sharpness and
bokeh to the Zuiko, but much less chromatic abberations when used for
digital.
