San Francisco is famous for its fog. Sometimes you couldn't even find the City if it didn't have a broadcast tower on top of a hill <http://moosemystic.net/Gallery/MPhotos/BayArea/Fogtower.htm>. The darker, purpler bottom part is the shadow of the Berkeley hills on the fog.
