I started following the camera from rumor/introduction, as it looked like
something I could get serious about, other than the price. The story from
the home bunker, err.......office is that the proximity of the rear of a RF
lens to the "film plane" is so short that the glass is quite a bit thinner
than one on an SLR. One might be willing to swallow this, as they have had
good apparent success with the digital back for the R, but I can't believe
that a thin coating on the glass could at the very least make a substantial
improvement.
Of course, it's a great deal cheaper to give away filters, than to take back
the thousands/hundreds/dozens of cameras already delivered and replace the
glass. I don't know if that is even possible, and I'm sure that future
digital M's will continue to have some of the problem, as they probably
won't want to admit failure.
