Last Christmas my wife bought an SP-350 Olympus digital camera. It came with
the usual Olympus Master CD, version 1.32.
Today I loaded the CD on to my laptop. It loaded just fine.
I then proceeded to download the updated versuion, 1.42, from the Olympus
website. After two attempts both download failed.
One call was made to the Olympus customer support 1-888 number. The advice
was to uninstall the original software and start all over again. Perhaps my
laptop had burped and corrupted a file. No success at all.
A second call went to the 1-888 number. This time I got a different support
person. Her second or third question was whether my laptop was using a
wireless internet connection. "Yes" I told her. "My advice is to hard wire
the laptop and then download and install the 1.42 upgrade" was her response.
"Downloads and upgrades sometimes don't work well very with wireless
connections" was an additional response. She was right on the money! Total
download and install success was almost immediate.
Question ........ are wireless downloads a problem or did I just hit a snag
with some quirk of the Olympus Master 1.42 upgrade?
