I took a look at my DOS quick ref and I couldn't spot what I remembered ; but
this doc only covers the official DOS api, and there are lots of functions
that Mickeysoft did not see fit to reveal to competitors at the time. When I
used to program in assembly, I relied on the comprehensive DOS bible, but
this one's in my parents attic with what's left of my teenager's days. So I
can't be too sure.

The camera's firmware programmer made it for you, and the recovery program
author made another one. You happen to have been trapped in the gap.
