Interesting; that's how I have the E1 set up anyway. In MF mode, pressing
the AEL button makes the AF operate. It took a while in the manual to work
out how to do it but now I only use S-AF now when the switch gets caught on
something and I get there by mistake...
You are probably right about the tripod though.
