Hear, Hear old chap :-)
On my lovely Mac, using Mail, if I select a passage of text from a
post and Reply, the selected text is quoted. In that way I get rid
of most of the quoted text.
In addition, I prefer to read the message above the quote. I can
decide whether to read the quoted text after reading the post.
