I'm wondering if the rose was shot in bright sun. I don't see strong
shadows to indicate that (in fact, the lighting is a bit flat) but the
histogram shows that the dynamic range is beyond that of a JPEG. As
noted, the red highlights are all blocked up on the far right and the
green shadows are all blocked up on the left. But if it was shot in raw
then there's probably another stop at both ends which could be used to
improve the shot.
