Anyone with more experience than I buying from KEH care to translate
KEH's bargain grade description for me with respect to a flash?
---------------------------------------------------------
"Bargain" 70-79% of original condition. Shows more than average wear.
May have dents, dings and a goodly amount of brassing and finish loss.
Glass may have marks that should not affect picture quality.
----------------------------------------------------------
At the last event I shot I finally realized that even the 5D and 2.8
lenses can't see in near total darkness. I need a flash with an
autofocus assist light. Since I always shoot flash in manual mode I
don't need the near $400 top-of-the-line Canyon 580EX. The long
discontinued 540EZ is just as powerful, has an 8 stop manual control
range, has a longer range on the AF assist (15 vs 10 meters) and is
relatively cheap because there is no regular auto mode and the TTL modes
it offers are for film only and are not compatible with any Canyon
digital camera. In other words, lots of desirable features but
absolutely no automation with digital.
KEH has a sale on certain grades of the 540EZ. The BGN grade is only
$65. But EX is $94 and EX+ is $109. These are big jumps. I gave up on
trying on the bay since those crazy folks over there are paying more
than the prices at KEH.
Anyhow, is BGN just a little scuffed up? Maybe just has somebody's
velcro stuck on there? How happy will I be that I've saved nearly $30
in buying BGN over EX?
