Thanks, mang.

Well, for one thing, the GVPe will read a CF card at full USB 2.0 speeds
-- my 2 Gig card, stuffed to the gills with Oly RAW files, got read by
the GVPe in 4 minutes 40 seconds including integrity checks and index
creation (it can read more slowly if you want to preview each file as it
transfers over, but I figured, "naaahhhh"...). The EPSON does *not*
read at anywhere near full USB 2.0 speeds, as Rob Galbraith has pointed out.
While not super-critical for me, I did find that when I used my other CF
reading solution (a third-generation iPOD with a Belkin CF reader
attached), the eleven-and-one-half minutes it took to dump a 256 Meg
card really tried my patience, and the iPOD's battery was toast after a
gig of images. It's not the EPSON, of course, but slow reading speeds
really annoyed me, so I thought I'd nip that little problem in the bud.
And reading a 2 Gig card only ate 2% of the GVPe's battery life.
That's pretty good for me.
Plus I've seen the EPSON's screen preview in the flesh -- the JOBO's
much better.
