I've had this lens for a while now. Also got a good price on oboy w/1.4x
adapter (BIN). Knowing of Gary's test, I wanted to get a Oly 1.4x for it.
But after testing and using the supplied Tamron 1.4x, I saw no reason.
The lens shows very, very little loss of performance wide open on my full
frame Kodak SLR/c. Here's a pic with the 1.4x wide open:
