Either one would be just fine to get yourself going. The Canon
has a better sensor and faster AF, but the Olympus is a better
all-around camera for many other reasons. Both are capable of
producing outstanding images and will exceed your expectations
and requirements. It's really a matter of which one feels right
and which family you want to marry into.
I do suspect that you'd be happier, longer, with the E-300, and
not be seeking an upgrade quite so soon.
