The sticky wind latch problem applies 'mostly' to OM-2S, 3, 4, 4T etc. 
The latch stck in these models do require drilling out (7/64" drill) to 
take them apart.  Latches and spacers are self centering when the screw 
is put back in.  It can happen in OM-1 thru 2N , but problem is rare. 
In this case, no drilling is required.
What usually causes this kind of jamming (1 thru 2N) though is often a 
broken gear tooth jammed in another gear, a tab broken off the md cap 
jammed in gear.  An open md port in general can invite enough debris to 
cause jamming.
