He wanted to use primes. Primes in the 10-15mm focal length range
(16-24mm full frame equivalent) for APS-C size sensors are pretty rare.
The only primes I am aware of in that range are Sigma and Tamron 14mm
which are actually full frame lenses. Oly doesn't make any digital wide
angle primes except an 8mm fisheye. Canon makes a 10-22 for small
sensor DSLRs but, of course, that is a zoom. Zoom lens performance
these days often outclasses some of the older primes but I think his
concern is as much size and weight as optical performance.
