I don't have Walt's first hand experience with the Takumar but I'd be a
little surprised if there's much visible difference in the center of the
field which is all you're going to see with the E-500. Is your 50/1.4
one of the later goodies with serial number > 1,085,000 (at least as
Moose quotes it). Maybe it will give the Takumar a run for the money.
Since the Pentax K bayonet mount was announced in 1958 your screw mount
Takumar could be pretty old. I would hope that 20 years of lens and
coating developments were worth something.
