Oh, nothing to be ashamed of there. You had much better company
with you than I did. ;) I love the bird pictures. The B&W's of
the bird with your girlfriend are awesome. (I'll refrain from
lecturing...)
The two ends of the Island are radically different. The east end
is much less "green" and has more water influence. However, the
west end is more, oh, I don't know, unique? It has more
hardwoods. The Hugginin Cove loop is wonderful. I did those
five miles in just a couple of hours, but was wise enough to
carry only the XA with me and a fanny pack of spare film,
granola bars and a bottle of water.
The ship-wreck is real. The only fatality was a dog. There is
another one (nearly impossible to find) on the east end that
claimed more lives in a single wreck than any other on the Great
Lakes.
As to the purified water, well, the worms will start coming out
of your skin in six months. :o
It's unfortunate that you couldn't make it to the east end of
the island, I was looking forward to meeting you.
