As I said, reviewers were unaware of the 10MP raw conversion. It
could be that Nikon had not yet incorporated it into their software.
If you look here for a description of the sensor,
http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/nikond1x/
you should see what I mean. I got it partly wrong. The 5MP raw
conversion requires down sizing in the horizontal direction and
upsizing in the vertical direction. The 10MP raw conversion requires
only upsizing in the vertical direction and the horizontal is native
resolution.
You sort of prove my point that it is an unmarketed feature because
you did not know it nor could you read about it in a review. It was
discovered by users. Nikon users know about it and have talked about
it. I would not expect a Nikon user to know everything about Olympus
if they did not participate in a forum like this.
Here is a review that discusses it a bit. Not surprising he is a
Nikon specialist and unlike policy at dpreview at the time he worked
with raw images, not jpg, and did not just take the results of
default settings. It is only in the last year or so that Phil has
discovered that there might be a difference. The jpeg engine in the
1DX is a 5MP image. And it is obvious from Phil's review that he is
unaware of the 10MP option.

Apparently you were offended by the comparison to Fuji. It was just
used as an example and I don't really care which camera is better at
10 or 12 MP. That was not the point. The point was your statement
that if a camera were splash proof it would be marketed that way. My
answer was that while that may be generally true, it is not always true.
