For many years my favorite (and only) bag was the Olympus compartment
case M. I'd post a link to the eSIF but for some reason I don't seem to
be able to get to either mirror today and Hans' site doesn't allow a
direct link to the item. But you can search it out here
<http://vanveluwen.nl/eSIF/> in the case group -> equipment cases.
The compartment case M is a soft, dark brown faux leather bag with a
zipper opening down the middle and two external zippered pockets. It
has a snap-in soft-sided insert that carries three lenses. The body
sits above the lenses on a "C" shaped sheet metal platform and is
cradled in something similar to the bottom half of a never-ready case
attached to the top of the platform. The body platform is capable of
supporting the body with a short lens attached so you can actually get 4
lenses in there. There is more room in the satchel for another body
and/or lens and/or flash but there would be no protection for two or
more items banging against each other since there are no more pockets or
partitions inside. The case dates from the PV era... pre-velcro.
I carried this for close to 20 years and it served me well until I
joined this list and acquired too much OM gear to fit into it any more.
That and the disintergration of the anti-slip rubber backing on the
shoulder pad was leaving black marks on my shirts. I replaced the pad
with something else but equipment growth forced me to reutilize the case
as the holder for my three T-32's and mucho assorted flash cabling, T
connectors, home made brackets, PC cords, etc. etc. Unfortunately, it
doesn't even come close to holding all the OM associated flash gear at
this point. But it's still a very nice bag even almost 30 years later.
I saw one labeled NIB on tha bay sometime about a year ago and was
very, very tempted to buy it.
