Yes Scott, you are right about what happens post sensor. There is a company
that makes a business
out of mixed analog/digital **post processing** the ccd/cmos sensor data just
before a/d
conversion, and it is intereting to see their comparison pictures using the
same (Sony) ccd but
with their output chip set ,vs other comercial camera implementations using
Sony and other's post
process chips.
